Middle pickup for pegasus sentient hsh

Hello, new to the forum. I have a Ibanez rg450 with a mahogony body. I'm replacing the quantum pickups with a pegasus sentient set. The middle I was considering ssl-6 rwrp, ssl-4rwrp, stk-6, or possibly a cool rail. Someone said a yjm fury but that seemed a little hot compaired to the neck and bridge. I was planning to have the humbuckers on a switch for the split instead of auto splitting. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

For something like this, it would depend on what you want. Do you want quacky Strat sounds, and/or a usable single coil tone? Is hum-cancelling important to you or not so much (since you plan on splitting the humbuckers anyway)?
Do you want the output to balance with the other pickups, or does that not matter?

I am looking for something close to balanced, a little higher would be ok, I don't want it so over powered when split. As for hum canceling how would it be if the humbucker was split and the center was stacked?

A split humbucker and full stack will have 60's cycle hum. Do you use the middle pickup by itself at all? If not, just lower the middle out the way and just use a standard HB configuration.

There are a few things I like to use the middle for. I have been looking at a number of videos and am leaning towards either the ssl-6rwrp or ssl-4rwrp.

To me, the SSL-4 will be darker sounding than the SSL-6. The Pegasus/Sentient set are fairly bright pickups, though. Thing is, once you start making true single coils louder with more wire around the bobbin, they become darker.

That's what I needed to know, thank you. I think I'm going with the ssl-6 and using the mad hatter terminator 10 wiring system. I think this would be a good mix for it, and it will eliminate needing to add switches.

Also rwrp is unnecessary. Duncan single coils are naturally south up. And humbuckers naturally split to the north coil. Rwrp single coils are north up.

Something balanced? Try a Lil'59. Hum canceling, but nice lows (for a single) and decent highs. Four conductor wiring if I recall.

I had to look that up, since I hadn't heard about it before. I am sure it works fine.

I have 2 guitars with mad hatter in them. I came across it while I was recovering from lung damage due to chemical fumes, and couldn't solder at the time. They were solderless and worth a shot. I can say they are pretty good.

I wonder how a quarter pound for strat would sound in there.

Speaking of single sized buckers, I noticed the JB Jr. has a ceramic mag. Is that to compensate for the smaller size? How does it differ from the traditional JB with that?

Yes. It is hard to compare little humbucker construction to the large versions. Seems what we know about magnets and regular humbuckers goes out the window for the small ones.
