Mighty Wings Cheap Trick

Man this song is kicking my butt. I can get the rhythm part, I've had that for a while. But the solo. How does he do that fast a-b-d section? sounds like it's 16th notes "a b d b a b d b" etc, or 10-12-15-12-10-12-15 etc for you tab people (B string). Anyone know how he does it that fast? Is he tapping? Sounds almost like he's doing the whole thing legato.

Ideas? Tips?

Wow what made you dig that out of all the CT songs?

I'll have to take a listen again, it's been a while since I spun that one.

At what time in the song are you talking about?

I'm just interested in them. I heard "Died in your arms tonight" and it brought that to memory (after I got done learning that simple song). But that solo right there has always stumped me. I could tap it but it would take centuries to make it sound legato like that (or so I think). I'm just trying to make sure I'm not imagining things.

But no, I like to be very broad in taste and style experience, so I basically go down the list of 100 top guitar riff songs and learn them. This wasn't on the list, but I was thinking about it tonight.

And honestly CT had a very good vocalist. Those notes are HIGH, and he hits them without going thin, which is awesome. I can almost do it, but it won't sound the same.

So far tonight I "learned" Foxy Lady (main riff at least), i improvised and made harder a solo from Sweet Home Alabama, I learned that weird chordage from Wild Thing, learned the opening riff to Day Tripper by the Beetles, learned how pathetically easy Bad To The Bone is....

I took that religion quiz that you had a link to from your webpage & check out the results:

You scored as atheism.

You are... an atheist, though you probably already knew this. Also, you probably have several people praying daily for your soul. Instead of simply being "nonreligious," atheists strongly believe in the lack of existence of a higher being, or God.

It showed 71% Atheism, 63% Satanism, 58% Buddhism, 58% Paganism, 54% agnosticism...etc.

So does that make me a Satanic atheist? The results/comments lead me to question who designed the quiz... probably not an atheist! :laugh2:

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I found it humorous & thought I'd share.
It was all in a quest for a link to the Cheap Trick song so that I could give you my impression, but alas I was unable to find such a link!

Nightrunner,

That's ok. But those things are just quizzes that I thought were amusing at the time. I should probably dump them lol.

Hey I am a huge Cheap Trick fan so I'll never have an issue with them that song is just kind of off the radar even for most CT fans. I am listening to the solo but I swear I must have a different mix because I am not hearing the part you are talking about that is why I asked what time in the song is it at?

It's possible I got them confused with "Highway To The Dangerzone" Kenny Loggins, but I'm still not sure.

EDIT: Yep, found it....
