I'm a guitarist whose spent too much on guitars and gear. Got two guitars, an amp and a myriad of boutique pedals, which have been in and out faster than you can say GEARSL*T.
Anyway, I taken a sudden interest in bass and I'm really hearing out bass lines when I'm listening to music. I've got a friend whose left the country but has a 2nd hand MIM J-Bass in sunburst with a few small scuffs and dings.
I might buy it off him... The pole pieces are rusted, action and intonation is off.. still playable but could be sweet with a bit of loving. I can prob get it very cheap... $200 US? Around that? Take into consideration i am a guitarist and bass is just that low sound that that dude in the corner makes which seems to make things a lil nicer.
. I doubt i'll be buying a huge amp anytime soon. Can i just plug into my laptop for projection and use the provided bass amp when i DO play live. What else would i need to really spruce up the bass... new pickups? any pedals? preamps?
It's a really beaut 2-tone sunburst J-bass. I'd love to stick a tortoiseshell guard on it. What else would i do and what do i need to know about bass... that a normal guitarist doesnt already know..
