MIM Strat Appraisal

Not sure if htis is the right forum for this but...I'm selling my 2003 MIM stratocaster white/maple fretboard to my english teacher, but am having trouble naming a price. I've tried watching ebay for how much these go for but havn't had much luck. It's an HSS fat strat that I paid $400 for exactly 3 years ago. It's in as mint condition as it could be, in that I havn't played it for the past year (it's been in a case in my closet) and that it never really left my room other than to take to lessons twice a month for the first year.

Is $250 a reasonable asking price? Or is that pushing my luck?

Re: MIM Strat Appraisal

$250 sounds about right if it were the SSS model, but for the HSS and given its condition, I'd say you could easily get $275-$280. I think those are going for just over $400 now-a-days. So I think he'd be getting a pretty good deal.

The price is the same on both the SSS and HSS Standard Strats and used are in the $250 range.

Re: MIM Strat Appraisal

Where I am, the SSS and HSS models both typically go for $300, unless they're pretty beat, in which case they're $250-275.

Re: MIM Strat Appraisal

If he sees your guitar as a bargain alternative (ie, if he can't have that, he'll pay 400 for a new one), you can charge anything you want up to 400. The question is whether he will accept. Ask 320. Still a good deal, especially if the guitar is basically mint.

I think that's a reasonable price if he gives you an A for the year! :)
