Mini Humbucker...

I just purchased a Yamaha AES semi-hollowbody with mini humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions that are, all in all, sort of weak sounding.
I'm not quite sure if neck humbuckers were made to be hot, but I'm looking for a mini-humbucker that's pretty hot. Sort of like a JB, something that brings out harmonics and such.
Yes, I know a mini-humbucker isn't a JB, but something like a JB, if possible...if not, suggest something else that's hot. The model doesn't have to be a Seymour Duncan, just whatever sounds like what I'm looking for (although if it is, that's great).

Thanks for your help.

Re: Mini Humbucker...

the custom mini humbucker has a good amount of output and a more aggressive tone

Re: Mini Humbucker...

I love the minis especially in the neck position; however, you might also think about installing a set of P-90s too. The P-90 Stack is hot and very fat. I had a set in my Les Paul Deluxe and they were very very cool....

Re: Mini Humbucker...

I've got another Yamaha AEX semi-hollowbody with P-90's that are hot as hell, so I'd make the change, but I'm not really all that receptive to having another P-90 guitar. I like the tonal differance between P-90's and mini-humbucker's and I really want to stick to that, but I still want both guitar to have relatively hot pickups.

The neck stock mini on the guitar is excellent, so I'd keep, but just replace the bridge to something a tad more "modern" or powerful.

You all should really do yourself a favor and check out these Yamaha AEX502's because they're just excellent guitars. They're on ebay every now and then:

Thanks for the advice!

Re: Mini Humbucker...

Is the custom mini a special order? At MF (and other places) I could only find the vintage and Seymourized. I may go with the Seymourized, but if the custom has the range I'm looking for I'll go for that...

Thanks again for the help!
