Mini Humbuckers for Beefy Tele Sound?

A friend of mine has a P90 equipped Les Paul and he wants to do a bit of modding to it. First he's gonna give it a trapeze tailpiece, a new Tune-O-Matic, and a bone nut. He wants to replace the stock P90s with mini humbuckers so that the guitar will be noiseless, but also wants to have it sound like a beefy Telecaster, like early Les Pauls use to sound.

Others may have ideas, but I've never heard an LP, even the early design, sound like a Tele. They'd have better luck just getting a Tele. Minis in no way have ever sounded like Tele pickups to me.
