Mini Strat. Anyone know anything about these guitars?

A buddy of mine gave me this guitar to mess around with. He used to be neighbors with Cliff Williams of AC/DC in the late 70's early 80's and Cliff gave the guitar to my friends dad to give to him. He never took up playing though, and its been sitting for 30+ years or so. I've searched the net, and all I find are squire mini's. It measures 31". I haven't taken the neck off. Would there be some info in the neck pocket?

That Fender logo doesn't look right...

Searching 7ender now. Finding more on these.

What is the measure nut to bridge on the E? I have a Mini Hamer Standard that is normal scale but some are smaller. Does look like it says Tender.

Re: Mini Strat. Anyone know anything about these guitars?

It measures 19.5" from nut to bridge.
It says 7ender. Didn't find much on this particular guitar. I did find some basses for sale though.

I get a lot of cheap knockoffs coming in the shop.
That POS might be worth about 20$ usd.
I would give that to a kid for Xmas who wants a first guitar.

We can agree to disagree but I think it looks like a "T" in Fender script. But I bet it is a Greco made guitar. See if it will intonate and play the mess out of it. I do not know what the scale was on EVH's lil Les Paul he used for Little Guitars but they can be a fun guitar for a song or three.

Re: Mini Strat. Anyone know anything about these guitars?

Give it the SRV sticker treatment and put it on EBAY as a "Custom Shop SRV prototype". I have seen SRV guitars on Ebay that look worse than that so it will probably sell.

I think it looks cool. Logo is a fake, but who cares. Plug it in and let it rip... You can find some better pickups for cheap I bet. It will make a great traveler guitar.

In general these mini sized guitars don't stay in tune well up & down the neck. I bought one for a friends Grandson when he was born & it was really a struggle to keep in tune. The scale length is too short for it, but if you are just learning it should be ok. Once you get beyond Cowboy Chords its gonna get a little frustrating keeping it in tune. The one I bought (which was $99.00 US) was a pretty cool looking guitar, but there are so many things wrong with the design. Even from the pics you posted the pickups are too close together to get any real tonal value. Moving the switch is Not going to give you much variety in tone. The short scale will tend to be a bit of a challenge keeping it in tune. That said is I would give it a shot. What I would recommend is to pull the strings off, remove the scratch plate, spray out all the pots & switchs with Deox it to lubricate the pots, put the guard back on, put a generous amount of lemon oil on the fingerboard, buff the frets with some 00000 steel wool(tape of the pickups so you don't get any sticking to the pickups) and put a set of light gauge strings on. Enjoy!! :-)

If it won't intonate properly get a set of heavy strings, tune it to an open chord and set it up for slide.

To keep a short scale in tune, you have to move up to much heavier strings. Like, for a 3/4 scale guitar, start with .012 or .013s.

Re: Mini Strat. Anyone know anything about these guitars?

Tune it to A.
Same as those pee wee les Pauls you'd find. They only stay in tune when tuned up to A or G like the 5th or 3rd fret of a guitar.

Re: Mini Strat. Anyone know anything about these guitars?

The strategy that I used for my Duosonic with a 22in neck was to make all of the notes +10% sharp at the 12th fret when strung with 13's. Then I just tuned the guitar flat by 10%. Surprisingly by adjusting the action carefully I was able to get all of the strings to read in tune up to the 12th fret without fret buzz or too high action. The combination of short neck, thick strings, compensated tuning and compensated intonation equaled things out.
