Just baught the Fender Mini Tweed Twin-Amp at Guitar Center today. I was going to buy a Deluxe Players Strat, which I was impressed with before, but I played it today through a Gibson GA5 amp, a Marshall TSL100 w/ Vintage 30 cab, Fender Vibro-King, Fender 1972 SilverFace Pro Reverb, and a Marshall DSL401, and I thought it was okay at best. Im not used to playing strats really. I never owned one before. I found myself hitting the 5 way switch with my picking hand and changing the position of it. That was really annoying. And most of all, why I didn't pull the trigger on it, was because I didn't want to set myself back so far for my amp. I figured out if I baught that $600 guitar + some pickups, I would have to wait a whole year until I had the Tweed Twin, whihc was something I really wanted for a long time. This way, I can get a pedal and some other cheaper stuff now and still get the amp maybe for Christmas after getting some extra cash.
Anyway, the drummer in 2 of my bands, who loves to play guitar too, baught a Marshall Mini Half Stack, and I sort of liked it. I got all my amps and guitars upstairs, but when I want to follow along with a guitar DVD or program or tabs or guitar magazine lesson on the computer or TV, I have to bring a guitar and amp downstairs, which is a big pain in the ass and half the time I never feel like doing it, so I miss out on the lesson or tab or whatever. So I knew that there were a few Fender ones too, and I picked up, of course, the Tweed one, "Covered in real tweed!" Brought it home, and it sounds pretty good! I can really nail the ZZ Top sound....erm, if Blly Gibbons ever used a fuzz pedal :smack: But its actually really useful if I need to be very quiet or take it to my grandparents apartment when I go over there or need to bring it downstairs. The tone knob on it gives a lot of different tones. Very cool little thing. I like it better than the Marshalls and the other Fenders I've tried.
