Mini'buckers

Will a mini-humbucker fit into a P-90 sized hole without routing? Also, what is the sonic advantage of minis? Do they handle high gain as well as a regular 'bucker?

i have put minis in p90 holes with no problems, but ive heard of others who needed to do slight modifications. minis sound somewhere between a tele and a bucker, more spank than a bucker, more beef than a tele.
i always loved firebirds with minis. great tone
