Mix Critique request again. "Black Limo"

Everybody who helped on my last mix made such great suggestions, thank you and I hope some will chime in again.

I'm going to add backing vocals and some vocal effects but the music is all recorded.

Guitar: Dean Markley and Amplitube
Synths: Predator, Sylenth, Vanguard, Tone 2 Firebird
Drums: NI Battery

Sounds more like a dark pink limo.

I'd put a BIGGER verb on the vocals and some more upper mids. Actually seems to get better in the 2nd verse somehow.

Sounds really nice, man! I like the synth line at the beginning of the bridge.

I'd also let the end synth go a little longer and then fade back into a reverb of some sort.

There's my 2 cents...

You're welcome. I always listen...I may not change it but I will check it out and see. It's possible I made a cut in that eq range.

still wanna hear more cymbals and rhythym section changes, I heard a lil

nice singing!

I like the breakdown after the first verse

maybe some volume changes with the keys and like mutate them into other sounds

as a guitarist I would prefer the guitars fatter and more up front

almost a bit too much bass, at least for my new KRK system with 6"s and subwoofer



sounds awesome! I wish I could mix like that, great stuff

Thanks everdrone, good stuff! I pulled back the bass a touch and bumped the guitars a bit. I'll check out the other stuff too. Glad you like it - I need a sub woofer now.

Not a mixing critique, but it seems like there's background noise on the vocal in the beginning. I end up hearing it as punch ins and not a take because of the noise clicking on and off. Other than that little detail, it's really good. Dialing back the bass is a good idea, cos this mix has the bass pretty up-front. The track is really cool. Pretty distinct, to my ears. I always dig your stuff.

Sounds more awesome now man!

I would use some hi-cut filter (analog transformer mojo, EQ, or tube overdrive) on the droning rhythm synth because as is it sounds a little like white noise - I have to really try to listen for the content.

^ I hear you on the synth man, I was thinking it's hard to hear the note values.

Thanks to everyone for lending your ears, it really helps to have other opinions when you're so close to something it's easy to miss things. Rock on dudes and thanks again!

I don't know anything about mixing something like that, but it sounds cool & like something I'd hear in a movie soundtrack. Vox remind me of someone I dug from the 80s but can't put my finger on it.
