Probably a silly question, but would I be able to install 2 different blackouts pickups together in the same guitar? For example, mixing a Jeff Loomis bridge p/u with an original blackouts in the neck?
Be a bit mindful of the potential output mismatch though. I've got an AHB-2b Blackouts metal pickup in the bridge & regular Blackouts neck PU in my Cort superstrat & the AHB-2b is a whole lot louder than the neck pickup even though it's lowered a whole lot. I keep thinking I should get a Blackouts bridge PU & stick it in the neck position to level things out a bit...
..not if a Blackouts Metal is involved. It won't balance with a Blackouts neck no matter what you do with their respective pickup heights (within reason...) . The AHB-2b is just too loud/hot. I even changed the pickup rings to those really low profile metal ones so I could get the Metal pup practically level with the surface of the guitar. It was STILL too hot for the neck (at stage volume..). If SD ever came out with a neck version of the AHB-2b I'd be all over it although I've heard a Blackouts bridge in the neck does match its output & sounds pretty good too.
