Mixing pots?

Quick question,
Im doing a Strat build with 2 humbuckers (as my other ad) and gonna experiment with pickups,
wondering if you can put 250K pots with 500K?
Wanna try SD Jazz B in neck spot with both pots but use 500K for bridge,like a 59, Custom,etc.
Can this be done or have to use the same?
Also,does it matter what value volume you use?

Of course, you can mix values, modify them with parallel resistors, etc.

... although optimal pot resistance might differ according to the ears / guitar / pickups / effects / amp / cab involved.
