Modded DS-1 vs MI Audio Crunch Box

Can anyone offer a comparison/contrast of a Spina modded DS-1 and a MI Audio Crunch Box. I've seen some great reviews for the Crunch Box. Since, John Spina modded my DS-1 it's really a great pedal, it's now what I'd call a "brown sound in a box" kind of pedal....I don't need one do I...since I already have a decent distortion pedal in the form of the modded DS-1?

Can anyone please compare the two pedals? I'm hoping that there's at least one pedal addict around here who's played both.

I've tried to curb my addiction the pedals...but I think I like 'em for some reason.

We're guitar players, since when did "need" ever have anything to do with it? It's more about "will the wife notice".

Sorry, I haven't tried either pedal so I can't help you on the sounds, the whole idea of "need" just struck me as humorous...

Great! You got it! Humor was the intent..."will the wife notice"...yep...that's the key question. :lmao:
A Crunch Box will make essentially no difference in my quality of life. It might be fun to have one to make some different noise.

OR, would it have been more humorous if I had said..."I'll die, I'll just die if I can't get a Crunch Box!"

NOTHING can compare to a Crunch Box, for only $109 it's the best boosted Marshall in a box ever! Buy it, you won't regret it. BTW, the DS-1 pedals aren't even in the same league.

Cheers,

CJ

Those are some glowing comments. Let me ask you, Usurper666, what amp and guitar do you use you Crunch Box with and how does it behave with the Crunch control on the low and on the high settings? Is there a radical difference between low and high crunch? What about the tone control as well?

Thanks.

If you could get off your backside and come to the Lou....you could play through my Crunchbox.:fingersx:

Hmmm...that's a very good suggestion. BTW, Joe, has something happened to your modded SparkleDrive?

I use it with my Marshall Lead 12 and I have used it through my Marshall 2204 as well. My main guitar is a Gibson V with Duncan Custom and 59 pickups. It a very responsive pedal on lower settings. You can go from AC/DC to Slayer levels of gain no problem, it still retains your guitar's sound. Mine is the original version so it's not as bright as the newer versions, so I can't tell you how the tone control is on the new ones.

Cheers,

CJ
