I would like to know how many digital modelling amps/racks there are so I know what to research for when I get a new amp. These are the ones i know of:

Line 6 (everything)
Vox Valvtronix
Behringer V-amp rack
Sansamp PSA 1.1
H&K Zenamp / Zentera
Rocktron Prophecy rack
Fender Cyber Twin
BOSS GT-Pro rack
Mesa / Boogie (whatever the rack is)

Are there any more?

Re: Modelling Amps

the GT-Pro is a great box, I love mine. But it isn't for people who like to just set up tones quickly...there is a lot going on in that box.

Re: Modelling Amps

Out of those my choice is the Vox or the Cyber Twin. Make sure it's the blue grill Vox the silver ones are not as good I think.

My 2 euros.

Re: Modelling Amps

I think you are confused a bit as towards what a modelling amp is.

The ada, jmp and any mesa rack setups are actual preamps. They don't 'model' what another preamp is supposed to sound like. I think I'd put the rocktron prophesy in this category.

All the others you mentioned are modelling preamps that have all your Marshall and Mesa etc. amp simulations programmed into them.

There is a HUGE difference in features between these two types of preamps. The modellers usually have a vast array of effects and tweakable speaker simulation settings etc. Where as features of the JMP-1 is not much different than plugging into a regular Marshall JCM amp head.

Re: Modelling Amps

Roland Cube Amps, are some of the most popular. Cube 60, 30 and micro-cube.

Re: Modelling Amps

Don't forget that Johnson (millenium?) head that went for like a grand that is worth about 10 bucks now. I tried one of those many years ago at GC, and I couldn't believe how bad it was. Turn it up, and the hiss alone drowns your playing.

I think you're list is kind of strange, because you narrow down things too much it seems. For example, there's a bunch of sansamps and a bunch of v-amp type stuff, and digitech has a tone of rack stuff that models. Even before modelling, you had rack stuff that had different types of sounds which was sort of like modelling.

Also, most amp companies now have modelling stuff, but they all have their different take on it, so to make an all-inclusive list might be a little bit of a chore.

Then it's complicated by stuff like the guys at line 6 taking off and forming their own company, damage control, which makes some killer tube pedals that aren't really modellers, but look hella versatile and give some rack gear a run for its money.

I'd say grab a musicians friend and poke through it while on the crapper, dog-ear a bunch of stuff that looks cool and is in your price range, then hit up harmony-central.com and here for more detailed reviews about those few products. At least that's what I do, and it works out pretty well.
