So I've had an epiphone dot for a couple of years. Had the stock epiphone Alnico Classics. Honestly, not bad pickups. through a good amp, they're alright. But I'd been wanting something a tad more traditional style PAF in it. After debating for months over Saturday night Specials (I know they're getting a little hot for PAF's, but I like them so much in my SG I was REALLY contemplating it), Seth Lovers (find me a post that doesn't recommend Seths in a semi-hollow, right?) and even the Duncan 59 set among other options.
Well, I'd never really heard much about mojotone pickups. But they seemed to really bridge the gap between what I was looking for: PAF range for output, Alnico 4 magnet, I think plain enamel wire (but I'm not positive about that, it's just a guess), no wax potting. Price in the ballpark of a pair of brand new Duncans with covers.
Just got it back today with the mojotones in and it's AWESOME. I can't stop playing the damn thing. It's exactly what I'd been envisioning for this guitar.
Anyway, I thought I'd throw that out there. These pickups are not anything I've read a ton about, but I'm pretty impressed with them.
