Re: Mongolian warrior throat singing meditation

It's that MIDI Guitar plug-in, triggered from the mic.

The various throat singing traditions from around the world require at least two participants. (My favourite is Trio Bulgarka.)

The hoodie sweatshirt makes you look like one of Neil Young's Roadite monks from the 1978 Rust Never Sleeps tour. :)

Re: Mongolian warrior throat singing meditation

The sustained synthesizer chord seems to react to your voice.

I found that, when using a microphone signal as the input into MIDI Guitar Jam 2 software, if the mic picks up the monitor signal just right, it creates a loop that triggers indefinitely. Subsequent vocal pitch glissandi are interpreted as MIDI Pitch Bend data.

Re: Mongolian warrior throat singing meditation

hmm I did not know about the throat singing tradition stuff but the youtube stuff has one singer, I think the tradition is more of a contest or game then right? I dont know what a synthesizer cord is but I do have some reverb on it and I just remembered I have an octave lower turned on so maybe that is considered midi stuff, good ears, thanks for the listen :beerchug:

Haha nice! Can you do any styles other than kargyrra? I can only do kargyrra, oomei, and sygyyt so far but some of the other ones trip me out. I find the latter easiest. Too much kargyrra rasps up my throat pretty good.

Check out a group called hanggai they mix mongolian music with throatsinging and a mix of rock as well, pretty cool

wow cool stuff! I will have to check that out, do you have any links? I have not tried the others, I like the dual high overtone stuff I heard, very challenging

Yeah, absolutely. I learned a lot from watching this video over and over again:

He offers skype lessons too if that's something that interests you.

And this woman is absolutely masterful at the straight up overtone singing.

Re: Mongolian warrior throat singing meditation

Nice but you can do it much lower for getting extra sith bonus points :)

With a little practice you can sing to songs tuned as low as A.

I'm not sure what style it is as it has no ethno background / inspiration. I just ended up singing like this around 2001-something when in a morning accidentally I fell into deep sleep during washing teeth and swallowed my tongue, amygdale or something like that (I don't know what exactly, I've never dismantled people just computers and geetars) and that was the sound that made me survive. Then we created some songs with this voice for a 2004 album.

That is probably my favorite industrial vocal sound I've ever heard. It works fantastically well in that context. Wow. Seriously impressive articulation too -- I find it difficult to enunciate even simple words while that low.
