Monitors r here!!!

Davey

Goliath of Tone

it's tuff bein a box. but i'm livin it up, livin it up!!! BOX!!!!!!

unpacking. quite heavy for such small speakers. ~11 pounds each

Box #2

and out they are!

at this point i figured i dont have enough plugs, co you have to power each of them, so i had to do a bit of runnin around and finding a 2->1 adapter.. then i had to find the audio cables for each. good thing i had some spare. i need to get some 1/4" -> XLR ones, when i re-do the whole wireing.. as you will see it is more than just a mess and i gotta move em a bit.. but that's for later.

now:

the sound is BEYOND awesome!!!!

and the **** is LOUD as ****!!!! if i put it up 100% i dont need a fan here. my guitar amp has a hard time keeping up with them :headbang:

the low end is great and enough for my current needs, it's clear and i can hear the diference between a bad rip and a good rip. finaly QUALITY sound!!

thanks to jeff D and TO for turning me to Event monitors, i'm happy as a pig in ****.

and also, HUGE props to Thomann.de, i paid 355 euro + 25 euro shipping, shipped on tuesday, delivered today. and it wasnt even express! 4 days from ordering to having them from germany RULES!! GOOO DHL!!

Re: Monitors r here!!!

Awsome... instead of buying home stereo gear in the future i am buying studio monitors for everything i do from now on.... they even make a POD sound amazing... The little studio monitors have some serious tone these days!!!

Re: Monitors r here!!!

They sure look cool! Hm..I think I need these ones too :)

Music will be more fun now..need to check these at Thomann.

Re: Monitors r here!!!

Which events are those? I've been saving up for some studio monitors, and was thinking about getting some Mackie HR824s or JBL LSR4328Ps . . . just wondering if you tested any of these out by any chance?

Re: Monitors r here!!!

TR5's

i got my iPod Shuffle connected to it, cos i am deleting all my stuff from the comp so i can do a fresh install and like said, the sound is to die for. the bass drum moves your guts if it's too loud!

Re: Monitors r here!!!

I thought I posted already, well here goes:

Davey, I am intrigued now. I am embarassed to say that I don't own a proper home stereo. I listen in the car. But anyway, let me get this straight:

1. You plug this straight into your computer.
2. It is self-powered and gets friggin' loud.
3. It sounds great.

Would I need a different soundcard besides a Soundblaster? A new purchase for me is a ways off since I've almost used my quota of huge purchases :firedevil But, I'll keep this in the back of my mind

DAVEY, CLEAN YOUR ROOM!! :D

#1 no.. at least not the speakers alone. it goes computer -> Phonic MU1002 (mackie ripoff, got no problems with it as of yet) -> pair of event tr5's
#2 yep. my ears are still ringing, when i let her rip earlier today, playing along with my crate is hella fun and i'm not even on full. i gotta start wearing earplugs :D
#3 like you wouldnt believe!!! i'm especialy pleased with the low end from these babies.

not at all. just run the line out, or headphone out (i just have a headphone out on my laptop) into the mixer and you're set, as the computer then just becomes a source of signal, just like a mic, you run everything via the mixer.

DAVEY, CLEAN YOUR ROOM!! :D
wth? :eek13: it is clean.. well, that's just my desk and i cleaned it.. only the wireing is a bit messy

k, just to shed a bit of light... these are my first real speakers. before i had some crappy computer speakers, which were so old, that the membrane collapsed. we had a stereo at home, but it sucked, way too muddy sounding. now we got a small stereo just for listening to cd's, which is in the living room and my mom uses it.
me and a friend were discussing speakers and such that i could use with the computer, but we ended up with 150$ speakers (one) which would need an amp anyway and those are close to 150 too, if you want to get even a hint of quality (i had a 150$ system, in which i fried the transformer within a week of listening.. and it wasnt that loud to begin with.) the events cost me 380 euro (~455$ for the international currency challenged ;)) and sound better than any home stereo in this price range, not to mention they are 50 times louder too, without losing any definition.

so, if you want something to use with the computer and got some to spare for a mixer (i'm sure you could run them direct from the computer without any problems, you only need a stereo 1/8" to 2x 1/4 mono cable and you're set) heck, you can use em for anything.. runing a POD through it or whatever has a hifi output would be no problem FAIK
and IMO, this would be an even better solution that buying a keyboard amp or a POD specific amp.
