See if your local music store can make you one. They can usually do it in just a few minutes, you can choose your components, test it right there, and you know who to take it back to if there's a problem.

Also, if they are not durable, then the warranty negates itself IMO. If its always breaking, then you waste time going to replace the cable. Thats money wasted on gas and then you inevitably pass a packie and end up buying a case or two of beer or go to a strip club, when if you had a better cable, you could have been playing guitar instead of returning home drunk and penniless after a 3 hour trip to return a broken cable.

my cheap 20$ monster cable broke but the other did not. I returned that one wire in hand to GC and got two studiopro 1000s which are big/rigid/weirdmaterial, which I am not gonna say have made night and day noticeable improvements or anything. also I have the planet waves make your own types on my pedalboard.

I have a Studio Pro 1000, which I think, when run straight from guitar to Amp w/o any artifacts in the signal, does impart a great neutral Clairvoyance to the sound.

I have a Studio Pro 1000, which I think, when run straight from guitar to Amp w/o any artifacts in the signal, does impart a great neutral Clairvoyance to the sound.

I think they do also, at leastt the more expensive ones do. I have the 500 series, not the 1000, and they do seem to bring out more clarity and mids.

I own 2 instrument S-100's (21'), and 2 speaker cables by Monster.

Before that, any variety of cables from your guitar retailers.

I was told 5 years ago, if the cable ever malfunctions, just bring it to the store and it will be replaced.

So far, I've replaced the cable several times due to my own lack of care, i.e. letting the ends sit on dirty band room floors.

So far, Sam Ash, Daddy's, and Guitar Center have all honored the lifetime warranty. Just gave me a new cable.

They are durable, and have a clear signal. That's the best recommendation for any product. Peace of mind.

I have the rock 21' and one of the cheaper 10' cables. I've had them for about 6 years now and I've had zero problems with them. I've also used a number of other manufacturers in this time frame- Horizon, Planet Waves, Fender, Live Wire, CoreX2, etc. The 2 monsters and the CoreX2 have been the only cables to stand up to the usage.

i have three monster jazz 500 '12 cables, a 12' studio 1000, a 21' bass 500, some 9" jazz 500 jumpers, and a few of the std 100 line stuff...
the jazz cables and studio cable i bought...
i use the , jazz 500 and studio 1000 cause they all are good, but they sound different...

the monster rock cable I have has a very focused sound. It works well with amps that have a lot of crunch/gain/harmonic detail. Otherwise, I think that the monster cables kinda kill some of the good tones that good 3d-sounding pickups generate.

The gold rock cables I have are epoxied at the ends where they solder the connection.

This is a great example of why I dont understand Monster. Too many variances in cables. Am I really getting something extra for paying more? If I spend less, am I getting an inferior cable? Are cables tailored towards a specific sound (jazz, rock?) If so, doesn'y that mean you're giving up transparency? Why not just make 1 awesome cable?!?!?

I have a couple of their speaker cables that I bought about 10 years ago at a ridiculously cheap price, and I have no problems with them whatsoever. I don't like their instrument cables, though. To my ears, they drop way too many high end frequencies.

I don't get the whole idea of choosing a cable because of its attenuation properties.

If I want to roll off the highs a bit I have a special trick. Please forgive me if this is too complicated to follow, but I'll try to explain it as simply as I can.

Here it is:

I turn down the presence on my amp.

In some cases, I turn down the treble.

I know it's kind of unorthodox, and maybe a bit confusing, but it does work.


Seriously though, my approach is to tweak the tone at the guitar or the amp (or the pedals as the case may be) and make sure everything else in my rig is letting the whole signal through. I refuse to give control of my tone over to a tube filled with stranded copper wire.

So are every other "good" cable. The only cables that aren't over-priced are the ones you make yourself.

They probably are a rip off. I know for sure they are for home audio, especially HDMI. However, since I switched to using them about 5 or 6 years ago I've never had to replace a cable. Not the 7 or 8 I have connecting all my rack gear. Not the three long cables I have for my guitar. Not the short cables I use to connect the few pedals I have. I don't gig with them, so take it for what it's worth. I used cheaper cables before and they used to go bad alot.

That being said, I'm sure there are other good quality cables out there, I just haven't had the time and/or patience to try them out and compare sound and quality. I don't even know how I'd compare quality since I have so many cables connecting my rack. Maybe I can try just my guitar cable.

At any rate, that's my experience with Monster.
