watch where you point that sabre
I recently picked up a Crown XLS 2002 pA amp on sale which I got to plug my modeler's into and use with my real guitar cab's (defeat IR's) and holy **** ..it was a revelation! Above everything it made me realize just how freakin' awesome my Mooer GE300 is at capturing the tone's of my real amps as I was able to A/B between amp/Tone Capture through the same cab. I literally could not tell "any" difference" at all. Got one of my son's to switch between the two as I played
p) and I could'nt tell which was which...nor could he. Not once...not at all!
Now while I will try and do an actual comparison (with actual mic'd cab's) at some stage.
I thought I'd try and do a comparison of just the raw amp's (Capture's) with the same IR first... ie. tone capture's with the other stuff stripped away. Just a tiny bit of reverb from the DAW on the track output.
This is with the same IR (Cab) for all the tone cap's.
Most of them are one's I made with my own amp's plus one with a pedal ("Damnation distortion") & one that I made with another modeler's 'Plexi lead' patch (Zoom G1 Four)
I really like the fact that the Tone Capture's don't just change EQ or whatever...they actually capture "All" the characteristics of the amp (thickness/texture/grain/harmonic content/dynamics/noise ..& yes even feel
) ..and do actually sound pretty much identical to my real amp's. This is extremely apparent with the Crown XLS & guitar cab, but I think it comes through pretty clearly here in a mix as well :bigthumb:
Lead's only. It's kinda sloppy - sorry have'nt played much in the last couple of weeks , but that's not what it's about. Just wanted to share my experience with this kickass modeler. It's like having all my amp's in one pedal ....insanely convenient :bigthumb:
