More chorus pedal advetures!!!!

Well as a few of you may remember i posted a question regarding the two chorus pedals that boss makes. Well, i got the ce-5 but before that i checked out a clip of the ibanez cs-9 and was really impressed with it. After the boss arrived i tryed it out and liked it but decided the ibanez was more the sound that moved me. Well i got it and hooked it up through the #1 effects loop of my road king and loved the sound. Then i started noticing a kind of a popping noise when i would slide chords realy fast and it seemed to overload really easy. So ams sent me a new one and i just got the other one in transit back to them yestrerday. Well it still seems to pop just not quite as bad. The "pop" i am describing here is a soft clippy staticy sort of pop and to make matters worse is the overlaoding issue!!! If i digg into the strings very much it produces a "narly " distorted sound, and this is on the 2nd position of my ibanez ( strat had the poping sound on the 1st on but have not tried the strat with this one). I have tried lowering the guitars volume and it helps very little. I dont have the master volume or the channel volume very high and its a clean channel all the way around ( clean, fat, tweed) i have it set on clean and have selected diode rectifacation.
What i am asking is: is this a common problem with analogue chorus pedals ? If i got the small clone would i have the same trouble. Thing is i have heard much about poor quality with electroharmonix stuff some i am weary of getting the small clone. I did not have this problem with the boss, but as for sound i know i can do better. I am very close to getting the more expensive Mxr -134 chorus. What do you think guys. I know this adventuer is getting on my nerves!!!!!:yell: :yell: :yell: :yell:

Re: More chorus pedal advetures!!!!

All BBD based pedals overload, those things cannot take much signal, you can only hope to get one that overdrives in a pleasing way, most of the unpleasent sound comes from the compander that is there to filter out noise, mst older pedals do not have those and sounds less like a "can".
Anyways the pop is probally the LFO that is turning around.
How is it out of the loop??
Loops and pedals really do not like each other much most of the time.

Re: More chorus pedal advetures!!!!

I played for about 40 minutes both small clone and CS-9 in GC on a strat through JCM800 reissue and was much more pleased with the control and flexibility and just overall tone of CS-9 than that of Small Clone, and did not
hear any of these pops.
Strange ....

Re: More chorus pedal advetures!!!!

If the loop is running on linelevel signal it will boost the poor chorus alot....meaning almost everything will get insanly loud....it needs to run at musiclevel, otherwise it will break down in the end, at normal usage most modulation pedals makes very little noise.

The loop i am running through does not have adjustable levels. The effect just runs straight through whereas the seconnd channel you can add or take away effect. It does not seem to get loud but just seems to oveerload ery easily.

I have not tried it out of the loop.

Re: More chorus pedal advetures!!!!

The best sounding chorus I've heard is the VooDoo Lab Analog Chorus. I have a couple different old chorus pedals but that is the one I always come back to.
