Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

maaaan ......... Dude, you ROCK, my hat off, I am back after i quit for five and a half years and you really reminded me why I should spend more time in the livingroom practicing and less at parties haning out. You nailed it bro, I mean I think on the record the tone is a little brighter, but the live versions of BTW that I heared were very similar to what your tone was. Was JMP from seventies Wolf's amp too ???

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

I wasn't trying to nail anybodys tone really but just tried to dial in a decent sound. The mike was a little to off center of the cone now that I listen back to those clips.
Wolf played boosted JCM 800's I think and his sound was much more aggresive and crunchier. My JMP is more vintage sounding and has less gain.
He also played with active pickups to which would give him even more gain.
Thanks for listening guys.
Chris.

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

You guys nailed that Nazareth tune. Nice cover and a cool choice. ACCEPT BTW is another cool tune to cover. Would like to hear more. Rock on!!

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

Thanks, that Nazareth tune is quite hard to play live with just one guitar in the band:eek13: After 5 or 6 tequilas and a dozen beers, it keeps me kind of busy between the rhythm and lead fills at that speed. Most of the tunes have a lot of improvising which makes things a little easier:blackeye:

If I can *ever* play that well after 5 shots of tequila and a dozen beers, I'll have to hang it up... :laugh2:

Nice!

I built up a pretty good tolerance to alcohol over the years or the fact I'm 6'5 and 250lbs. might help too:6:

I see! I generally go with a few beers before a gig to loosen up my vocal cords... I don't know why it helps, but it does.

A cheap JCM 900 B cab loaded with 2 Vintage 30's and 2 G12H-30's in a X pattern. The G12H-30 is miked.

I'm going to have record a few more songs with my new '59/Custom hybrid now. Next gig here I come!

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

This is the stuff i really like listening to here.. but what would make it better is if you just gave me your marshall. :laugh2:

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

Razamanaz.. very cool. Killer rock, all of you guys. I used to have a 79 JMP 59w.. great rock amp, perfect for the stuff you guys are doing.

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

Great stuff! I've always wanted to cover Razamanaz - I was really into that album at the time I started playing guitar. You guys rocked it! :smokin:

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

that sounded great! who modded your amp? i have the same amp...'79 50w JMP and mine needs a bit of TLC (caps and tubes) and i keep considering having it modded when i get it fixed.

I'd say you easily surpassed "decent." I really dig your tone, Chris. Cool tracks, too.

Re: More clips of my '79 JMP 50 watt

Thanks guys. We play about 3 or 4 shows a year with that band, summer festivals, biker partys etc. Its just a part time kind of thing we do for fun when we are not working.
The guy that modded the amp lurks over at the PP forum and goes by the name VikingOne. This amp was trashed when I picked it up. Didn't work whatsoever. He got it up and running, goosed the input a little, added a PPIMV and adjustable FX loop.
Chris.
