Once again, great covers. Manhattan is like.. my favourite song by him, and you've got the closest to his tone I've ever heard a person doing a cover get.

(And I'll PM you about lesson related things, I just need to.. basically convince my parents that it is indeed safe..)

Re: More Eric Johnson YouTubage - I cannot stop guys!!!

Amazing!

Wish I had record Manhattan when I could play it but I forgot it :D

Real nice interpretation and tone!

My favorite part ~ 3:56 :D

Trademark is awesome too! What happened to EJ? Do you like his latest album? I'm torn.

Nice playing, nice tone! Manhattan is such a great song, the title fits so perfectly to the feel you get of it. Alongside with SRV my favorite song of Mr. Johnson.

yeah - very happenin indeed ...

damn you got spider fingers .. your pinky is pretty damn long ... must come in handy for stretches, etc ...

i liek the way you manipulate the tone throughout

do you learn those tunes by ear or from transcriptions?

Re: More Eric Johnson YouTubage - I cannot stop guys!!!

Thank you very much guys.

Yeah the fender amp is good for the clean tone, but not so good for distortion.

I was gonna use the Marshall, but the marshall doesn't sound good clean, LOL, so I just went for the fender. I should use an A/B switch next time like Eric does.

Strange Sound, I like Eric's new album - Bloom too. It's just different. I think he got over the guitar god thing, which is unfortunate because his previous guitar-heavy compositions blew me away. But its just more relaxed now. I wonder what he'll do next. He possesses such enormous tone, knowledge and feel. He must surprise us with more heavenly compositions in the future :)

Mightily impressive :) . That tone is amazing. Great guitar playing allied to a great sound. What more do you want?

Do you mind if I put these videos on my forum? I am trying to get the forum to kick off as it is new. It can stream YouTube videos and Google videos so they show in the posts. Will only put them on if you allow me too though.

Hi Mark.

Sure you can put my videos on your forum.

I have a forum too that i'm trying to kick off a musician's discussion at.
It's www.babyoilmusic.com/forum

Maybe we can work together and cross link a little bit.

Re: More Eric Johnson YouTubage - I cannot stop guys!!!

Sure. Will keep an eye on your forum. Very easy to put a little shoutbox on your forum infact that can communicate between forums. Just an idea. Too many forums for too few people me thinks. Will put a post on my forum on how to do the shoutbox thingie. Dead easy as it works off an iframe. You can see it on my main site when you click on chat - situated just under the scrolling news box.

Will keep in touch.

Regards - Mark

VERY FINE PLAYING!!!

Did you happen to spend some time at Humber?? I am sensing a little jazz background in your playing.

Hi Al C

No I am self taught. However I draw from numerous jazz materials. Jazz is my ultimate inspiration, even though I play many styles of music.

My primary jazz experience is listening to Kenny Burrell and Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino records. I also have Jody Fishers complete Jazz guitar method - its excellent. The other thing I do is play with hal leonard and other jazz play alongs.

I wish I could go to Humber though. The singer from my band - Babyoil went there for Jazz Performance studies. The professor's name I can't remember - but he was a session guitarist for Disney. My singer is an outstanding jazz drummer - the most jazzed up drummer I ever had a privillege to jam with.

Thanks a lot everybody!

Hey man thanks!
Sorry i didn't reply to u right away.

Yeah my hands are kinda skinny but long, thats why they look like that :)

I learned those 3 from transcriptions. Then I kept playing them once in a while and once I got comfortable, I started inserting my own pentatonic licks, runs or octave ideas, etc. Just playing around with it.

Thanks man!
take it easy

Man that was some seriously sweet playing and great tone.

I didn't even realize that was you since you have long hair on there and short in your avatar.
