This Cherry head will gently hold in place the upcoming Evan-Rude. The stain is such that the amp head is going to match a certain Vice-President's cherry floors in his Condo. :smack:

The customer is always right. This sucker is pretty. Jeff complained that his picture taking was rushed and generally sucked. I'll post some follow up photos when I get the amp in there.

Now, for a poll! Evan wants Chicken Head cream knobs. That is a must. Now, what color for the faceplate?

Thanks foamy.. I knew I could count on you!

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

The only thing that jumps at me is dark brown. I like the idea of matte silver and gold. But I don't think that wood+cream+gold=good

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

I should call this the Area 51 head. Look at the little alien on the front. :D

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

That looks great. And the little alien adds a nice touch. ;) Nice bookmatch.

For the faceplate, I say dark brown or black but I'm voting black.

Well, the handle is dark brown if that matters.

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

Being that cream chicken heads are a must. I voted reddish to give a mild contrast, But still be very organic looking. Myself? I'd go with a cream faceplate and black chicken heads to match the piping.:)

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

I'd go dark brown to match the handle. I think the less the colors the better the look and the more attention the wood gets. Wood, dark brown, black, cream and chrome - there are already enough colors on that amp in my opinion.

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

I voted Darkish red. Beautiful cab, Scott!

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

EIther dark brown to match the handle + piping or black because it´s neutral and gives contrast... any thing else is getting too flashy and raising the risk of clashing IMO ;)

The "piping" is wenge

bwds_wenge.jpg

The warmoth description is :

Wenge (Millettia laurentii):
Wenge features black and chocolate brown stripes. It is usually quartersawn to yield straight grain – similar to Zebrawood, but black.

So, if it gets here looking black that's not a problem. In fact, I have can pop a black leather handle on threre with zero problems if it's "the right look".

Since this stuff can be a mixture of black and chocolate, a lot will depend on what it looks like when it gets here.

Evan has a major decision to make and he keeps putting in back on me! Bahsted! :)

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

Seems like a really big (tall) box for a head to me?

Maybe a dark brown face plate to match the wenge binding.
+1

match the wenge, so you got less collor clutter on the thing

Re: More EyeCandy from Jeff Swanson Cab-Maker (PICS)

I voted Dark Red...

Like a maroon, maybe with a goldish border around the edges...real classy like.

nice work by the way.
