mosat expensive pedal...

John and Darrin have been talking about a $550.00 crunch box...it got me thinking. What is the most expensive pedal you guys have? New or old...let's just see how crazy all of us are...don't list pedals you saw but did not buy...I want to know who has spent the most on ONE pedal.

I'll go first... I paid $345.00 for my Lovetone Brown Source...then ipaid to have it shipped the USA, all total $386.00!!!

Was it worth it...HELL YES!!!

Re: mosat expensive pedal...

*hangs head in shame*

I guess I am the worlds only dunbass for dumping that kind of cash on a stompbox!

LOL! nah, the ToneBone was $230. Was it worth it, maybe, for a certain type of tone, yes. I find my quest for the "perfect tone" can change as often as I discover a new combo. For instance, today I sat down with my '52 Tele RI with recently replaced original pickups (bought it w/Bardens :saeek: hehe, sold 'em :32: , 5 bills, hehe) thru my slightly modded Blues Jr. & Spinamodded TS-9 and I was trippin' on myself for 2 hours. So I guess whatever "gets" you there is worth it.

Peace,

Darrin

I paid $300 for a Hughes/Kettner Cream Machine thinking it would make me sound like SRV! :laugh2: :yell: :laugh2: :yell: :smack: :smack: :smack:

My mosat expensive pedal is a Little Lanelei reverb pedal. When I get the extra cashish, it'll be the BJF Mint Green Mini Vibe @ $424.

Oh man, I love it. The money I've spent on stuff to get a certain tone (not dissin' you casbah, just commiserating) & it's just inside you, aching to get out. Sometimes it does & sometimes I can't friggin' find it. I love it!

Peace,

Darrin

Yeah, man, I'm finding that less is WAY more, nowadays. Just an L.P., Marshall, and a great sounding-Spina modded overdrive. (With the latter costing me way less than the H/K [Hunka Krap] ) :laugh2:

Der ya go brother, der ya go!

Re: mosat expensive pedal...

Man, I just don't understand how a single pedal could possibly do $400 worth of improvement to your tone. Then again, everytime I try to expand beyond wah & distortion (or just wah, if I'm using an amp with a good gain channel :) ), I end up getting rid of the extraneous stuff.

Truth is, my favorite amp is my modded 1969 Fender Twin Reverb...to me that amp has THE clean sound, I use a Pro Co Rat for most of my crunch tones and while thatr is a great set-up for me, I need/wanted a good middle ground...something nasty but not as saturated as the Rat...the Brown Source was the ticket...I now have a killer crunch tone from a SF Fender Twin, ands when I need more I just kick on the Rat...sure it was almost $400.00...but that is still by far cheeper that a good sounding tube amp that would get the same tone!!!

I suppose that makes sense. It also answers why I'm not into $400 pedals... I don't really use the in-between sound very much.
