Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

In Reservoir Dogs, Mr. Pink is doing the stealing. It seems like the tides have turned for Mr. Pink the guitar, because it looks like it has been stolen.

Last week when I came up to my room, I found that my beloved Strat was missing. I assumed that my parents just took it away as "punishment" so I could concentrate on my homework. What's weird is that my Jackson and my Squier were still there. So I asked my parents, and they said they had nothing to do with it. Then I figured I must have misplaced it. So I searched the whole house up and down. No corner or closet was left unchecked, and neither corner nor closet held captive my beloved guitar. I have never taken that guitar out of the house, let alone my room. I realized that it must have been stolen.

Here is where the weirdness starts: I had two guitars sitting out in my room on stands at the time, but only one was stolen. Also, not only was the guitar stolen, as the gigbag (which was either under my bed or in my closet, I don't remember) had wandered away as well. In addition, only the guitar and gigbag were stolen (or so we know so far), nothing else of value in our house.

The question is, who could do such a thing? I believe there to be three suspects:

1. The Cleaning Ladies
We have had the same two cleaning ladies for quite a long time. There have been no problems whatsoever. However, the past month or so, they have brought another woman along. This one is younger, looks a little suspicious, and has platinum teeth like some rappers. Yeah I know, don't just a book by its cover, but two weeks ago, my dad noticed some aluminum cans missing. Just aluminum cans for recycling, big deal, but what scared us was thinking about what else she would take. Why would she steal my guitar? I don't know, she could have thought that since there is so much other crap in my room, I wouldn't miss one measley guitar.

2. Friends or Neighbors
My friends know I have this guitar, but I don't know why they would steal it. A few people down the street from me play guitar, but I don't know how they would know I played. This isn't very likely, but it's sure possible.

3. Seymour Duncan Forums Member
The only reason I would even think of this is stemmed from the fact that I tried to sell my DKMGT a few weeks ago. This sparked some controversy, seeing as I won it in a contest here. Someone may have thought they could teach me a lesson on morals, hypocritical as it may be. There are quite a few people living in the Orange County/Los Angeles area. I hate to even think about this, but there is definitely a possibility.

Anyway, I am going to have a talk with the cleaning ladies next time they come. No accusations, just a talk with the woman in charge about it. If there's no luck there, I'm going to file a police report and check all the pawn shops myself in the Orange County/Long Beach area (I think the cleaning ladies live in Long Beach).

If any of you So Cal guys see this guitar in a pawn shop or guitar shop, could you drop me a line?

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

Uh, considering whoever took it has access to the house without having to force their way in I would think this may merit a call to the police before doing ANYTHING else.

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

EXACT reason why shyt MUST be booby trapped!!!

good luck.

p.s. maybe it was the dude in ur avatar?

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

At least it's unique enough where there aren't others like it. I have a feeling it'll show up somewhere. Call the cops if you haven't already.

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

it's like one of my adopted children has been stolen.

(insert tons of profanity here)

i hope you get it back man, that blows.

well it has Mr. PINK stamped on the back of the headstock (alparts neck with woodburn mark on heel) with a pink Fender logo that says "Modified in NY" under it instead of made in USA, the body is a fender reissue that i routed out for a hum in the bridge....i may have written something in there, but i don't remeber there is also a small chip by the heel of the body in the paint.

oh man this sucks and it's not even mine anymore!!

Check under the bed... Hey Kurt Cobain misplaced one of his that way for a long time...

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

Cleaning women know that they'll be the first person accused of stealing if something's missing, and they wouldn't take an obvious item like a guitar.....they'd take hidden cash, jewelry, or things that could be easily misplaced.......this gives them an excuse and aliby.

The person that took your guitar is a guitar player you let into your home, and more likely an aquaintance of them. Think about all the friends who've seen your guitar, and might know where the gig bag was. Did they have some shadey looking friend with them when they visited. I'd be a private investigator for a few weeks, and keep your eyes on the most likely suspects.

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

I'm just confused as to how the theif got into the house if it wasn't the cleaning crew. Do you guys leave the doors unlocked, or are there other non-family members who have keys to your house?

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

That's really bad news Ankalar, and I'm sorry to hear that. I could never imagine how I would feel if one of my guitars was stolen. I wish you good luck on finding it, and I hope you get to the bottom of the case soon.

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

A friend of mine got in his car one mornig to find that his car stereo faceplate had been stolen. Not the entire stereo; just the faceplate. he couldn't figure it out. Why would anyone just steal the faceplate? Surely he had just misplaced it or something, right? So he asked his parents if they had seen it. They said they had no idea what he was talking about. He asked his sister. He asked his friends with whom he had been out the night before. No one knew.

Then, days later, his mother gave it back to him. She had taken it to teach him a lesson about leaving his car unlocked.

The point I'm trying to make is this: In the face of a number of details that don't add up, don't assume your parents truly "had nothing to do with it."

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

Damn, I knew I should have bought it... I guarantee it wouldn't have disappeared.

Re: Mr. Pink got a tase of his own medicine...

I had a Heartfield Elan disappear from my rec room like that one day. No signs of entry, nothing else missing (including the other guitars it had been sitting next to), and my father had even been home all day. The police came out, poked around, didn't find anything. We contacted our homeowners insurance folks and they gave me a check for $1200.

While out shopping for a suitable replacement, I located my missing guitar in a store two counties away from my house. The police picked it up from the store and got the info on who had sold it to them. The seller, who lives on a street parallel to mine, had supposedly been driving through our neighborhood on the day in question and "saw this dude walking along in the rain with a guitar, no case or nuthin". Neighbor Guy offered Mystery Dude a ride, during which he negotiated purchase of the guitar "real cheap".

The county was unable to prosecute for breaking (there hadn't been any) and entering or theft, since the only evidence was Neighbor Guy's story, but near as they can figure either Neighbor Guy or Mystery Dude had been cutting through my backyard and saw the guitar through our patio door. The yard is fenced in on all sides, so we never worried about locking it... until then.

Hope your story has a similarly happy ending.

+1. I'm with Joe.

Damn..sorry to hear about this Ank. I din' even know Mike sold this guitar...believe it or not, i think this is the one I liked of his the most!

I don't think I'd wait to talk to the cleaning ladies. I'd call the Police ASAP. But I'd also let your folks know you are doing that..as someone else mentioned you can never rule out the folks...they are smarter than you think :) They could be doing something with it as a surprise for you..any B-days or other special occasions coming up?
