Multi Preamp setup question.

Currently I have a GT-6 running into a Peavey 50/50. I'm probably going to buy another (tube) preamp in the forseeable future. Were it your sound, when running both pre's together would you run one per side (AA x BB) or both on top of one another (AB x AB)? Similar question, but different focus: How would it sound to have two preamp sounds coming through the same speaker/cab?

Re: Multi Preamp setup question.

It's just adding more parameters to control your sound. With too many effects going at once, the sound may not be great, but with subtle settings of each parameter, it can still sound classy. I would try to determine which unit has better distortion sounds, and which has better modulation/ambience effects. Then I would put one in the loop and the other in front accordingly. Once they were hooked up in place, I would not limit the effect combinations I messed with.

Re: Multi Preamp setup question.

If it's just a straight tube preamp with no effects, I'd use the GT-6 as a stereo effects box in between the preamp and the power section.

Not only can you use the modulation effects, but you can alsouse all the EQ options and limiters/compressors to shape the distortion tones of the preamp.
