Must be strong!!!!

Re: Must be strong!!!!

Has the headstock been refinished? It only says "Fender" on it...no "Stratocaster", no "contoured body", etc. Those look like the Squire tuners (rounded bottom, no "F"). And is that serial number legit? What about those abalone fret markers?

I admit that I don't know a lot about Strats, but that just doesn't seem right to me.

And, after all...it IS craigslist! I don't need to "be strong" to pass on that unless he is willing to knock off a couple hundred dollars and you can see and play it in person before buying.

Re: Must be strong!!!!

i only took a quick look but the lite ash strats had those inlays. they were pretty nice guitars for sure

Re: Must be strong!!!!

Yep, it's one of the MIK Lite Ash strats, great guitars, I would probably try to talk him down a little though, if you chew thru the straps that is.

Re: Must be strong!!!!

I have a MIK Lite Ash Telecaster, solid guitar as well. Wouldn't hurt to double check the serial, but Fender had those made in Korea from 2004 to 2009 if I remember correctly.

Re: Must be strong!!!!

Those were a good series. Slightly warmer than most Strats, so they would suit me nicely. I think these days, even $500 might be just a little high.
I think this series just said 'Fender' for some reason.

Re: Must be strong!!!!

Thank you knowledgeable Strat-o-files!

MIK - pass. Still, Abolone/Duncans/Ash...Sweet ride.

4 months in and doing ok....

Re: Must be strong!!!!

Why?

EDIT: Oh, because you assumed it was MIA and that's why it was such a "deal"?

Yep.

Nothing against Korean Guitars. Probably a dozen in this room. But at 500, not an epic deal. If it was a real USA, I'd be in the car on my way back breaking my 1 year vow already!

Re: Must be strong!!!!

for $500 if that was mia, it woulda been gone before you saw it. i betcha you could get it home for $425, maybe even $400

Re: Must be strong!!!!

Nothing wrong with Korean made guitars. Just not worth $500. Offer $300 and prepare to pay $400. I personally wouldn't pay more than that, but it's a fair price ($400 that is).

I agree with the guys above, I still own one of these Special Edition Lite Ash strats and it's a pretty good guitar for sure.
Lite ash body, two point trem, birdseye maple fretboard with abalone inlay and a set of Duncan APS-1's.
I payed slighly above 500 euro new for mine back in the day, and I thought it was a really good price for a Strat that has the quality this guitar has.
The headstock logo is normal for this model, they all came like that, just the Fender spaghetti logo in gold, no other text on the front of the headstock.

He may ask slightly too much for it though (even if the prices of guitars went up a lot in the last decade), but if you can get a few bucks of the price and if the guitar is in good quality, it sure is worth 400 or slightly more if you ask me. It's a pretty neat Strat with some "special" features that is worth a look into in my opinion. ;)

Re: Must be strong!!!!

I don't want or need a Strat. Would I like one? Sure. But it would have to be an epic kliller deal. This ain't it.

I'd rather pay $200 for a killer Squire in Shoreline Gold / Rosewood and get a Duncan loaded pick guard than hassle for a deal on this one.
