Must know chords?

I was trying to compile a list of chords that guitarist think are requisite, chords that you MUST know, just for practice and to expand my chord vocabulary.
I find when working out progressions, I tend to go back to the basic shapes and I would like to expand on them with some other voicings and types.

However, it would seem what chords should be included in this list varies quite a bit.

Any suggestions for chords that should be on this list?

Thanx for any help.

Re: Must know chords?

I dont know exactly what voicings these work out to be but here are a handful of my favorite. Mostly key of A and E stuff really, major and minor voicings. I like big sounding chords. Hope these help.

Re: Must know chords?

Majors & minors in both open and bar shapes, and definitely all the 7's. Beyond that, other extensions and inversions should do the trick.

Here try out this app, it might help you get the same of the chords you like.
google "what chord am I playing" input the chords. For open strings mark behind first fret.
