Mustaine Livewire questions and observations

These came on ESP Mustaine V and I just had some questions.

These are actives, and if memory serves, EMGS you pretty much raise em til they are on the strings. How high or low do I have to set these?

How much battery life can I expect?

They definately do not sound like active pickups, but they dont exactly sound like a JB and Jazz either. I know they were voiced after those pups so I am not expecting exact clones. I can get close if I kick my guitars volume down a notch. They do sound good on cleans.

Anybody have a set of these that did not come on a Mustaine guitar?
What kind of guitar and are you happy with the sound?

Anybody have any problems or complaints about these pups?

Just trying to get a feel for these pups.

i don't think that they have to be close to the strings because of its extremely high output.

Actually I've found active pickups to sound best when closest to the strings.

Yup, because of the ultra-low string pull. I have no experience with the Mustaines, but I'd imagine it's the same principle with Duncan as EMG.

I guess I just go up and down until I get the sound I'm looking for. Don't be afraid to try mess around.
