Mustang Wiring Mod

Putting together a Mustang copy with Antiquities. I'd like to change the switching to Bridge=bridge, both, neck; and Neck= parallel, series, x. Found a diagram for the pickup selection, but haven't been able to find the series-parallel mod. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Mustang Wiring Mod

I forgot that I had a drawing of a better way to do this:

This way, when you go to the series mode, it doesn't matter which position the 3-way is in.

Re: Mustang Wiring Mod

The normal Mustang slider switches are eight contact, DP3T on/on/on types. (The "off" position is achieved by the jumper connections between the switch's contacts.) Hence, it is possible to have one pickup slider switch offer the usual on/off/reverse and have the second switch offer on (parallel)/off/on (series).

Series, out-of-phase gives a honky sound, somewhere between Kurt Cobain and Brian May.

I performed precisely this mod on a Squier VM Mustang. I will have to raise the pickguard to photograph my wiring. Alternatively, I may have already run a thread about precisely this wiring question.

Re: Mustang Wiring Mod

Oops. Forgot about the way the Mustang switches. My diagram may not be relevant. Let me look into this further.

Re: Mustang Wiring Mod

I found this diagram that illustrates the bridge-both-neck. Now to get the upper switch to go parallel-series. Not really interested in the phase switching.
