MVG guitars?

Re: MVG guitars?

epiphone makes the same guitar in the same finish. wouldn't be surprised if this cat is buying those and putting a new headstock and upgraded hardware on 'em.

if he's building them for scratch and selling them for $500 he's using the cheapest wood ever, ever.

The Epi's have more of a flame top, but I'm just more worried about spending the money because it "looks" like the Les Paul I've always wanted but Im concerned about quality

Re: MVG guitars?

The MVg line is built overseas at the same factory that builds for epiphone, Dean and schecter. We are able to offer the same quality at half the price because we don;t charge for the brand name. We have quilt, flame and plain tops. Every guitar is setup in miami FL. We are now making limited edition inlays on our own body design.

Re: MVG guitars?

What I don't get is why give 21 frets to a guitar with a Floyd (yet the "normal" Strats have 22) and a PRS-like heel to a 24-frets, shredder-oriented superstrat...

Re: MVG guitars?

Most guitars we build have some thought behind them. For example on a bolt on we usually do 21 or 22 frets depending on the pickup setup.
We have Double cutaway guitars with 24 frets, and a PRS type heel. These are very stable guitars.

Re: MVG guitars?

What I meant is that in a Floyd-equipped superstrat I'd expect to see either 22 or 24 frets, not 21 like in this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MVG-custom-guitar-superstrat-Floyd-Rose-gotoh-/120616275671
and that in a guitar designed with the typical shredder in mind I'd expect to find a heel that's as unintrusive as possible, not like the huge ones the typical PRSi or this one has:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MVG-guitar-set-neck-superstrat-shredder-/120619600925

Set necks are great for sustain but usually a shredder guitar has either a heel sculpted like a neck-thru (like the typical Schecter) or at least the neck is set deeper in the body so that the heel doesn't protrude as much.

I also found this guitar to have an identity crisis:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MVG-custom-guitar-Axis-Wolfgang-wilkinson-/120617280505
the pickup cavities on the body are routed for a 24-fret neck yet the neck itself has 22 frets.

All in all I found that these guitars have a lot to offer at their price point and I found the more recent ones (like the ones you posted above) to be better designed.
Just that being a more Metal oriented player myself with a love for 24-fretted, heel-less, Floyd-equipped superstrats that's the things I'd pick up on first...
Nit-picking really...
