MXR Dyna Comp vs Boss CS-2

Which would you prefer and why?

I've also come across 2 different Dyna Comps - 1 has the standard AC plug, and the other has a 3.5mm AC plug. Does anyone know if they are any different (circuit wise)?

Thanks!

Re: MXR Dyna Comp vs Boss CS-2

I have no personal experience with the Boss. I like the Dynacomp, though.

Re: MXR Dyna Comp vs Boss CS-2

The dynacomp has a certain squash and pluck about it that if you like it's all you'll ever need. If you prefer more subtle shades, BOSS is the way to go. Kudo's though - once you get past those two you are a compressor geek.

Thanks guys.
Yeah I find the Dyna Comp a bit over the top - it compresses rather aggressively, and darkens the sound slightly, but all in a really nice way!

And yes, I realized I've posted in the wrong forum. Sorry. =)

Re: MXR Dyna Comp vs Boss CS-2

The dynacomp has been a fixture in my rig for about 8 years...even in the POD years I placed it between the guitar and POD.

Re: MXR Dyna Comp vs Boss CS-2

The DynaComp is supposed to be a copy of the legendary Ross Compressor. The Boss compressors are designed differently, but they give you full control over parameters, and they are more durable than MXR.
