MXR Eq

Re: MXR Eq

I`ve got one of the older blue MXR 6 band eqs that I rarely use but it`s a very cool pedal. I prefered over the Boss and DOD 7 band eqs but the only downside is that it has no LED.

Re: MXR Eq

Any good?
What would you say is the best?
I did a search but nothing cam eup for a few pages

I have aBrehringer 7Band.
I think it is good value for what you pay !

. . . on the other hand, my cousin has an MXR Kerry King 10Band, and he can sculpt serious tone from his set-up !

He runs :

Guitar -->TS9 -->TS0 -->MXR EQ --> 5150 combo(60W, 2x12)

. . . and that is it !

From Johnny Winter/SRV/Rory Gallagher style electric blues to the heaviest metal that i do not care for !!!

Re: MXR Eq

I just saw a 6 band on on ebay and was interested.
The behringers are pretty cheap as well but i worry about the sound.
How does the DOD, mxr and berhringers compare to a boss?

well MXR 10 band eq or the KVK are same ,the KVK has just 2 output jacks and tattoo paintjob on it!
if you use it for recording and just for "solo" boost/tonal change ,it is the perfect weapon.Or if you have a 1 channel amp and going to have 2/3 different crunch tones ,it is perfect..
And you can use it as boos pedal too.The gain control is perfect...man i love the possibilities of that thing.
OTOH ,you can go with Boss twin pedal. It has the possibility to store different settings ,wich gives you unlimited tones in a 3 channel Amp!
I would go wit 2 MXR units ,or 1 Boss unit!

Re: MXR Eq

BOSS 6 band is "not" as good as the MXR in sound quality.Behringer is a little noisy ,and it's plastic!I had one and does not satisfied me!BOSS and Behringer are working and sounding similar!
DOD i never played!

It is the best pedal version that I have come across yet, although I haven't tried them all. I seem to research and "try things out", and then when I am happy, I stop searching and stick with it. I have stopped looking for a good EQ pedal now!

I would like to change a few resistors though, if I can figure out which ones, to make it a little bit more quiet. It is definitely more quiet than most eq's, but with a high gain amp you are bound to have a little bit. May need to look into an ISP Decimator pedal if I cannot figure out which resistors to change to make it silent!

Yeah ,you can read it even on BBE Sonic Maximizer Manual.A noise gate or any kind of "hush" effect is needed. At leas infront of teh amp.If you use it thru the FX loop ,i think it is quite enough!
