So GC has a used one for sale. Cheap enough at $35. I put $20 down to hold it. They can't sell it for a few more days. Anyone have one? Like it? It seems like it'll work for what I'm wanting it for, to add some new dirt to my SUNN Beta Lead. I tried it at the store, and it's certainly not a chugga-chugga pedal.

Re: MXR Prime Distortion

I grabbed one new for maybe $40 at Guitar Center a while ago; exclusive pedal, as the Classic Overdrive.

It's sort of DS1-ish, maybe grittier, with a more useable tone control. I find it compressed and focused in the midrange, "tight," not very harmonic, also not really a palm-muting sort of pedal. I prefer to use it in combination with another pedal, or into a dirty amp.

I also felt it was a little grittier than the DS1. I'm thinking it'll do what I need it to.

Re: MXR Prime Distortion

So I got the pedal the other day and brought to where we jam. I didn't check it out until we were done. I was trying to find a good setting to use it as a boost. I thought I had it set and ready for the next jam. Well, the next jam was tonight, and it wasn't working for me when at volume with everyone else. I tried adjusting it on the fly, but ended up unplugging it and going without. So my question is, do I really just need an overdrive pedal instead of a distortion? That's what I'm thinking. SD-1? I like the sound from the Sunn, so I don't want to color it too much. I just want a little more oomph when I want it.
