MXR Smart Gate Help Needed !!

I've recently purchased a SS Head and a 2x12 cab and have been using it for high gain metal. I get pretty bad feedback from it and some high gain hiss, and was wondering if the Smart Gate works to remove the feedback!!!

I use no other pedals, just guitar into the amp.

It depends how high you set the gate. If it's set really high you'll cut some feedback, but really you may be using a lot more gain than you really need to, or you just need to learn to use your guitar's volume guitar to cut volume when not playing. The Smart Gate will definitely take care of hiss without affecting tone, it's great for that, but to stop feedback completely it may colour your tone at high levels, and also cut notes short when you don't want it to. I'd say it's definitely a pedal worth getting to try out though.

Okay so it's definitely worth a try ! I'll try going lower on the gain + smart gate !
