They are hyping up they found some secret sauce in Randy's pedalboard; I call bullcrap. This is the script or block-era D+ with polka dots.

On a separate note, I am starting a GoFundMe to buy one for Dave, seeing this is his favorite guitar tone ever.r

I bet it took so long to release it because no one could agree upon any reasons why it was a good idea

This is a cheap money grab, simply putting a new paint job and name on an old pedal. But I have to admit I want one. It does look kind of cool.

I often wonder if he had access to more modern amps and pedals if his tone would have changed over the years. He didn't have high gain ENGLs or anything like that then.

Anything Randy is cool in my book and yes all music gear marketing is about money.
I wouldn't let it ruin yer day. I prolly won't buy one tho.

I am thinking definitely yes. Randy was an innovative guy. I am sure his tone would have moved in some direction. Look at how drastically EVH, Page, Blackmore, and Iommi's tones changed over the years. I think Malcolm and Angus are the only ones that stayed relatively the same over the decades.

I wonder how much of the money is NOT going to his mom, or the estate, or a charity or whatnot....

Never mind - Died in 2015 at 95

Yeah, my thought is that he would have absolutely embraced modern amps.

His sister has controlled the estate for a while and has been very good at protecting Randy's legacy. The music school his Mom had is now a Randy Rhoades museum of types. Losers broke in and stole a ton of gear. Fortunately they got it back undamaged

I don't think they ever changed the Distortion +, they are all the same schematic as far as I know. It's a pretty simple 741 clipper.

The circuit may not have changed, but the components seem to have. The reissues seem grainier than my original. When my first original died, I had to reissue it for a hot minute before buying a used 80s pedal to replace my original unit. The reissue did not seem the same.

The Electra is not really all that close to a Dist+, but a complete kit including enclosure can be had for 25lbs of British money. It would be a great way to get into pedal modification and building what with all the documentation that comes with it.
