Just need to pick it up now. It's all fixed (repaired, completely re-capped) and costed me a whopping $160 :smack: Oh well, not too bad considering the 4x10 amp itself was $350.

Good for you biu, now for all the hassle you have been through it should hopefully sound badass!!

Re: My 1970s Fender Bassman: FIXED

I think you'll notice a difference in sound with the new caps, Biu. Good Luck.

Re: My 1970s Fender Bassman: FIXED

$160 is nothing when it comes to amp repairs. Did the seller agree to chip in for the repairs? It will sound better with the new caps, you would've likely had to have done that at some point in the near future anyway.

Nah, seller didn't chip in. No worries though, I'll just never buy big amps on friggin' Ebay anymore.
The guy at the guitar store said he's considering buying a Bassman now after playing mine! :)

I will post clips if I ever get a mic, which (looking at my empty wallet) doesn't look likely anytime soon :smack:

I'll give you $175 for it - well you have to make a little profit!!! :joke: Enjoy it when it arrives, don't forget to polish it after every session

What a douchebag.....did you blast him on the Fleabay feedback????

Anyway...I'm glad it wasn't a complete loss & atleast now you have peace of mind that it's all in proper working order!

Good luck Biu :burnout:

mmm, bassman... :D

turn the volume up to 7, and the tone knobs up all the way, and just rock out.

wait 'til the parents leave tho.

Man, once I bring it back home, I'm gunna run it in stereo with my Carvin and by hooking it all up to my Boss ME-50. It will be pure tone heaven!

I foresee severe drooling in the days to come! :laugh2:

Re: My 1970s Fender Bassman: FIXED

hey biu
what was wrong with the amp? i have an old bassman 4x10 as well and in the last 2 years its been bad when both the power tubes are in so mostly it was run with one after that. when i first got it almost 10 years ago it was so clean and loud it was harsh but then it wasnt used too much when i went "metal" then i used it in stereo with a carvin bass stack for my distortion and effects side but now i want to use it all mine did was screech then i took out the second tube and it went away but it needs help since i hate the sound of it now. had i known i would have sold mine but i guess ill keep it if it can be saved
