Steel wool *can* get attracted to the pickups, and your pickups get all kinds of fur all over them. I don't see this with the fine steel wool I use, but some do.

I remember DR putting out some coated strings in different colors a few years back. My brother bought some for bass and they sounded pretty darned good. Maybe your guitar has a set of those?

I feel ya. I debated throwing some ontonsomenof my guitars, but they were too much for me too. Ibjust stick with the Pure Blues for the most part.

fill all the cavities except for bridge pickup and two knobs...

...then paint that bad boy TV Yellow and do a 50's Les Paul Jr. project with a P90!
