So I rather hastily decided to modify my G&L A.S.A.T. the other day & sold the pickups. They were actually really good sounding puppies, they & the chambered Mahogany body did the whole Gibson thing really well but you don't feel like you're playing a Gibson it's much closer to the feel of a Fender! Perfect for me because I'm not a big fan of Gibson guitars, the way they sound is amazing but I just can't get used to the way the play & I can't stand their necks!
Anyway, I've got another G&L that actually sounds even more like a L.P./S.G. hybrid & I don't really use that sound very often anyhow, so the pickups went to someone who will appreciate them more & I'm now completely redoing this little girl! When I was pondering what puppies I should put in it I remembered that I had a C.S. TB-10 F.S. bridge pickup just hanging around & it would certainly look great in it. So I hooked it up today and wow, the entire vibe of the guitar has changed but it's was all for the better for the better!
I then immediately started to look for a C.S. Reverse Zebra Full Shred neck and managed to find what I think was the only one on the east coast, @ least for sale today? It's going to be a few days before it arrives but if it sounds half as good as the bridge pickup does in this this guitar it's going to start getting a lot more use!!! From what I've seen & heard in demo videos and the like the neck F.S. sounds quite pretty! In one video for them there was a guy getting beautiful cleans from the neck and great compressed classic dirt from just switching to the bridge. The design of his guitar and mine we're almost identical so I hope to be able to get the same effect! I had some serious sellers remorse after I first let the original pup's go but now my frown has been turned upside down!
Now I'm going to go rip it apart again. They didn't use the best components in the harness & I've got some brand new 500K Duncan pots, nice cloth pushback wire, & a P.I.O. cap that will be going in tonight so when the neck pickup arrives she'll be ready for a lifetime of making me smile!
