My amp is squealing...why??

My Delta Blues is squealing (not on one pitch, it's like...whining almost?) whenever I turn it on. Clean channel, dirty channel, boost on, boost off, straight in, with my pedal...doesn't matter, it's making this noise.

Anybody know why this is? I'm guessing it's a bad tube, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't anything more drastic. Thanks!

That squealing is probably a microphonic tube. Could also be amp oscillation or your pickups going microphonic if you're sitting too close. Try the tubes if moving away from the amp doesn't help. If new tubes don't fix it, take it to a tech and have him fix it.

Same thing happened to my Classic 50 when i retubed it.. I had a bad tube and had to buy another preamp tube.... It just whinned away by itself...

if you tap your preamp tubes lightly with a pencil or chopstick, you'll likely locate the problem
