Fedex brought me a new toy. I thought this thing was so cheap that I might as well try it to push my amp or a solo boost or something. I haven't tried it with my amp since it's at the studio, but I will be going tonight and will try it. I did get to try it here through the ME30 on clean and direct. Both sounded warm and not harsh by any means. That really suprised me, no matter what I did, it didn't get harsh, even direct or through the ME30. It has a small amount of gain but I think this is due to me being new to OD's and this is my first one. So I don't have a good idea of how much gain they should have. All in all, I've played it a while now and though it has little use to me alone, i can see it making my amp one heavy machine. As you know it has the chip that TS's have in them, others can tell which one cuz I don't remember. As of now I would suggest you go get one of these things, and they are a steal at 12 bucks!

Someone was raving about that pedal earlier in the week, but I can't find that thread now. Where is that thread?

Dude, I love the Tubulator.

Try using it in the loop..or after the preamp, whichever is aplicable, and see if you like it. Thats where I like mine, with the gain and tone down to like 1. Makes everything sound warm and rich. Very beatiful lead sounds.

No matter what you do with it, its great tone anyways though.

Unbelievable for the price.

Re: My Arion Tubulator came in today

I used to be a real snob about pedal brands. I wouldn't have touched an Arion effect back in the day, but now I try all brands out. Thanks for the review. Always good to know there's some cool cheap stuff out there.

Aside: I'll be posting some clips of my Behringer Vintage OD after it comes in today (I hope). Not as cheapas the Arion, but compared to most Screamer clones not bad at all ($25-ish). OOOO, it just came in as I was typing!

I've found I'm more of an OD guy than distortion. Even though I often play metal, I tend to not like the sound of straight up distortion boxes, like the DS-1.

And since you're good at projects, there's always the possibility you could figure out how to put it in an aluminum box with a heavy duty switch, then paint the box with some cool name and design. It'd be a fun afternoon project. You'll probably break it with your foot, otherwise. I had an Arion pedal years ago, and the first thing that broke was the battery cover.....then one of the knobs snapped off.

That's kinda odd cuz this thing is solid as a rock. Which must be just it because my bro has an arion tuner and it's flimsy as crap.

It was Gr8Scott....

And yeah, what GJ said: ditch that plastic box & put it in a metal housing with a good switch. A funky paint job always looks cool:bigok:
