my "B" string won't bend on my Tele

I installed new pickups in my tele today and now the "B" string is messed up.

When I play past the 7th fret, it doesn't make a sound. I pluck the string and its just dead air. All the other strings work perfectly fine.

What could the problem be? :smack:

Obviously not a problem with the pickup. Sounds like your neck is a tad bent and you need to get the truss rod adjusted. Go to any guitar tech or store and they will be able to fix the problem with ease.

Although I install my own PuPs, I have no prior experience with trust rod problems.

do you recommend adjusting the truss rod myself?

I would just take it in if I were you, so you dont run the risk of messing it up your self. Normally it's only like 1-3$ if not free for a truss rod job.

Truss rod's are easy to adjust...you just have to know which way to turn the thing.

I set mine up so when I fret the first fret and the 24th fret at the same time, there's little to no space between the low E and the 7-9th frets.

It sounds like you could use a really good setup. Either take it to a really good tech, or pick up the Dan Erlewine book "How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great."

it could be a problem with the bridge action too.

This turned out to be the problem. My tele has individual bridge peices that set the action on each string individually, and I had readjust it.

The action is perfect and back to normal!!!
