Sounds like it holds it's own just fine :fing2: I don't care what most people say, even lower wattage amps are bloody loud.

Re: My bid in the low-wattage guitar amp ring: 2W amp at gig volume

Its a question of headroom. If you want to push an amp to it's limits while not breaking windows, the low-watters are fantasic. If I can find a good power transformer, I'm thinking of building a 1/2-1 watt amp just for this purpose.

I find that it's a combination of what you said, plus the amp's tone/design. A lot of small amps sound terrible when pushed real hard.

As you can hear from the clip, there is NO headroom left when I push the amp this hard. Like you said, if that is the sound you're going for, it's a great way to achieve it and walk out with your hearing somewhat intact.

great playing and arrangement

cool Mick Jones vibe on that guitar. I like it!

Re: My bid in the low-wattage guitar amp ring: 2W amp at gig volume

Sounded pretty damn good to me. Nice and fat!
In my other band, I much preferred preamp distortion for the style of music. With this band, however, I've come to love power amp distortion; it's a much thicker, beefier tone -- BUT -- requires a whole new level of volume. A lower wattage amp helps me achieve this at realistic volume levels. There is zero clean headroom, however.

I was very much a part of the high-wattage snobbery club, as there were no low wattage amps I heard that sounded large. I had, in fact, given up on the idea entirely and it was by accident that I stumbled across EAST amps. I had no idea that the amp was 2W, and that was enough to convince me to buy one.

Sounds cool.

Coincidence you posting this as Sunday was the first time I brought my Laney 5W combo to jam with me. Had no problem being heard with drums, bass and sax (mic'ed through PA) with the clean volume on about 8 at which point there´s no more headroom, but if you don´t mind it breaking up there´s more volume on tap, and quite a bit more on the drive channel

Yes, that clip is with the Gain all the way down, channel Volume at 3 o'clock, and the Master Volume at 2 o'clock which is right about where you don't get any more volume from it. I think it has plenty of gain on tap just running it like that, and I'm not even using high vain preamp valves! I have vintage GE 5751s in the V1 and V2 slots!

Oh that's a cool sound in there. Nice playing too ;)
