My Current Setup

i recently had to move in with my daughter for what I hope to be a brief time.. So I had to condense my gear.. didnt get rid of any.. I just had to either utilize the closet/storage shed for the stuff that wasnt really needed like the other speaker cabs I own..pedals.. guitars .. red dk2 is my #1.. squire is my #2.. grey DKMG/DXMG is my #3..



Even though I have two pretty decent amps..cant really use them much in my current situation.. Even when I had the option to use my amps, I still mainly prefer playing through Guitar Rig.. with some nice headphones or through a soundbar.. This is my goto setup



and not a word about that ribbon cable.. Connects my soundcard to the IO bay.. The soundcard is a sounblaster XFI music extreme with the 1st generation of IO bays.. I really need to upgrade my interface as its showing its age..soundcard is too for that matter.. Biggest problem I have using the PC.. is dynamics.. The main + to using an actual amp.. If I could recreate the patch with one of my amps and some pedals/rack.. id use real amps more

and my favorite patch on GR4.. a slightly tweaked version of their stock 80's solo patch.. sounds bad a$$ to me


some of ya's gear is pretty epic..mine is respectable and some of it hold substantial sentimental value..

Oh my. I've been playing through my Behringer into headphones with the speakers shut off (yes, has that option).

It sounds killer, and I'm going to try using it to record some tracks direct in to my H4. I'll keep you posted.

Thx.. It took abit of effort to get her just right.. She plays and sounds really good.. I still need to level a fret or two and replace the nut to be finished with her..I have an LSR roller nut but just havent found the motivation to install it. The guitar stays in tune really well but the nut it fried.. damn cheap plastic nuts and the previous owner tightened the G string too much ( there is a joke in there I think).. lol.. Also.. I dont think you can see but the tuners are locking and im using a piece of masking tape for a temp fix on the nut..

all hardware was from guitar fetish.. pickups are iron gear.. electronics and pickup covers come from allparts.. that specialized tone pot came from guitarelctronics.. the single coil is a SD sc101

when I bought her..This guitar caught my eye in a pawnshop.. I just liked the vintage cream + she was "reliced" from normal use.. lol


I extensively shielded all of the cavities.. she is quiet as a whisper.. no matter how much gain/volume you use..


The bridge is setup to feel like a hardtail.. I read that a traditional tremolo laying flat on the body doesnt sound right or sustain well.. Dunno if its the big block of brass or what, but it sounds great and sustains well enough


tried to be neat as hell with the wiring.. The wire I chose is the vintage cloth.. I also went with the schaller mega E switch.. same asa a regular 5 way, but the middle pos turns on both the neck and bridge instead of the middle.. if you noticed on the tone pot.. I accidentally forgot something.. OPPS!!.. toggles are for series/split/parallel for each humbucker.. and the one in front of the 5 way is a kill switch


original wiring that I drew up at the very beginning of the project.. For the most part, I stayed true to the original concept.. Even named her the "Ultra Squier"


When I originally did the wiring I used an OD cap but wasnt really happy with it.. so I decided to try out a DMT Dual Mode High & Low Pass Tone Control from guitarelectronics.com.. i actually like it but its slightly specular at times..

overall.. this guitar is really really versatile..
