I finally got this thing back together and I love it! Swamp ash tele with a custom shop bg-1400 in the bridge and a strat hot stack in the neck.
The BG-1400 is noiseless and it is very twangy, but without the ice-pick in the forehead kinda sound :D It sounds a little bit glassier than a typical tele bridge pickup to me.. very cool.
I just could not find a tele sized neck pickup that I really liked for my music. The strat hot stack is also noiseless, and it has a lot of life. It's pretty sensetive and glassy.
The center position is very sweet too :)

Awesome man.

Oh man that grain of wood!!!

Looks very sharp with that pickguard.

The hot stack is that good for distortion and cleans?

I'm pretty stoked right now.
I think i'll go play some guitar.

Can't wait to get my new Tele finished, it's taken forever the bright side is I have a BG1400 just dying to scream in that thing, matched up to a full sized 59 neck. Thanks for getting me all worked up!

Looks great, Steve-

There's no compensation in your saddles...was it hard to intonate, or are you about to dispell a myth here?

Did you have to route to fit the strat pup in there?

Cool!

too cool bro!!!

man...all these tele pics and tele talk in here lately is absolutely KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!! :17: :11: :argh: :help:

Dave - Yes I had to route it a little. It's a Warmoth body and actually a Mighty Mite neck which is liscensed by Fender. I have heard so many debates over these saddles.. I like them. I got the bridge and other hardware from Musicians Friend.

Wattage - I am happy to inspire you :D YOU HAVE A BG-1400 AND IT'S NOT INSTALLED?? Bad gear junkie.. bad :18:
I like the 59n in a tele too.

Frantic - the hot stack is definitely glassy and tight sounding on the bottom end.

Caveman - I did a tune called "Bend" at http://www.soundclick.com/270left . You can hear the bg-1400 on that tune. You can hear the hot stack (neck) on the first half of "Sancha Azul" (but the pickup was in another tele on that tune)

I'll take some full pics. Thanks for checking it out guys. I really like this guitar a lot.

Where is that tortoise shell pickguard from? Is it a Fender or an aftermarket replacement?

I just picked up a '93 MIA Tele in vintage white and I'm thinking of replaceing the original white pg to tortoise.

very cool steve! i never found a tele neck pup that was all that great either, but strat pups in the neck seem to work nicely. how high do you have the pups set and hows the volume balance?

Dangerine the pickguard is from Warmouth. It's pretty sweet looking in person :)

Thanks for the kudos dudes :) I am pretty stoked about finally getting this rig all together.

Artie Too that is a happy-weird tune.. heh heh.. I did that when I first got the BG-1400 :)

I did another tune with the hot stack in another tele. It sounds pretty much the same in this one. Check out the first half (and all the rythm guitar) on "Sancha Azul" at http://www.soundclick.com/270left if you'd like to hear it.

Here's some tele's for you.

As an aside, The Jazzmaster is turning itself into a gold sparkle strat. The body itself is up for grabs if anyone is interested.
