My first all-synth live jam

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
I am starting to kick around ideas for an upcoming piece of music that I want to record as I play it live using loopers, synths, and a step sequencer. It's a lot of technology to round up so I figured the best place to start is with setting a tempo and seeing what can be done with just the step sequencer and a couple of synths.

This is the end result. Don't expect any great music here, this was mostly to see if I could do everything at once!

For this jam I used my Arturia BeatStep Pro, Roland JV1080, and Arturia MiniBrute. MIDI goes from the BSP > Roland > MIDI thru > MiniBrute

I selected a tempo on the BSP, pressed play, and let the MiniBrute throb away on a preset patch on MIDI channel 1. The JV1080 is playing 3 separate patches on MIDI channels 2, 3, and 10.

All note inputs, drums, and filter work on the MiniBrute was performed live.

Delay and reverb were added afterwards.

Thanks! It's going to take a lot of work to pull off what I have in mind, but I think I'm up for it. :)
Baby steps ...

Re: My first all-synth live jam

Nice work! Digging it so far, though if I may, the higher-pitched "tinky-tink" that starts in the beginning seems to be insinuating a faster tempo than the rest of the piece, and makes it a little hard to get the head moving in synch.

LOL, that was the plan, mwah ha ha ha.... Seriously, thanks for checking it out. It's just the first step in a long process.

Re: My first all-synth live jam

Oddly, the head was bobbing nicely to the "tinky-tink" tempo, and then the 3rd "bwom" comes in and I'm like "waitaminnit, I can't possibly be this white"
