Hey guys, not sure if any of you know but i have been saving dilegently for a new amp, probably a 30 watt mesa f30 combo BUT i have been really have aot of fun playing with my acoustic (a cheap eterna by yamaha from costco) and seeing as how i don't even play in a band i really want to just say screw the amp ill buy it later and save up a little more and buy myself a taylor acoustic! Probably the 314ce as its a little more affordable than the even higher end models. Any thoughts? Should i stick to the plan and buy an amp or keep saving up for that acoustic! right now just to let you know ive already managed to save well over a grand in canadian right now, but i like to have a little bumper cash so im not toally broke if i blow it all.

I played only acoustics for many years ... there's nothing wrong with that!

especially if your goal is more singer-songwriter related

as long as you keep playing acoustically, I don't think your skills on electric will diminish, in fact, your right hand skills are likely to improve

I've pointed this out several times, but this local dealer is one of the top Taylor dealers, and has excellent prices:
Buffalo bros

I usually look at a 714CE when I go in, so I think a 314 is likely a good choice, and likely something you'll keep for a long time ...

looks like they have a used one for $900

Youre all alone on the final decision, but here is some insight you may not have considered...

With an electric guitar, there is always another piece of gear that you NEED to get that sound. Gear Acquisition Syndrome or "GAS", is highly addictive and contagious. If you are entertained by accoustics, then go for a good Taylor and hold off on the electric for now. If you are careful in selecting your accoustic, it will give you the tone you desire at that moment and for all to follow. You buy an electric or even amps for an electric and then you NEED an EQ, a volume pedal, chorus, delay, wah........
See where I am going? Besides, you can go anywhere with just you and your guitar and entertain a small group of friends. Dont get me wrong, I love electric and there are many techniques that can not be employed on an accoustic, but I will always love to pick up my accoustic and start jamming.
Good Luck on your quest!!

I play more acoustic than electric these days...and I love my Taylor. Sure...go for it. Your ears will thank you in 40 years too!
