I already knew they had a reputation for being one of the best OD's ever made, but in 1999 I came across a new recycler.com ad for an original gold/w centaur pic version in original box for $240. That's still a lot of money, but I jumped out of my seat, told my boss I had an emergency to take care of, and drove to the bank, then to his house. What a sweet score that was, because it's turned out to be my favorite OD. It sounds great on any amp, as long as it's a tube amp that's already pushed sounding. The Klon just takes it further.
It's not a highgain pedal....it's actually more of a boost that sounds like an extension of your amp, but it actually enhances the sound, like a tube mic preamp does for microphones.

This is the part I'm very excited about, extending the exsiting sound of my amp - a tube mic preamp is a great analogy. I hope this is what it turns out to be.

They're very different, and IMO would probably be a great duo for a pedalboard.
The OCD is what I'd call a higher gain pedal, which sorta sounds like you're turning up the volume on a JCM 800. You definitely hear the buzziness coming into the signal, which makes an overdriven amp turn into liquid sustain.
The Klon is what I'd call a mild overdrive, or clean boost. If you turn up a Klon it's like a fatter version of your amp that sounds more like a non master volume amp being turned up to where the power tubes start to swell up. It gets nice and gainy, but sounds more creamy like power tubes. The OCD sounds more like preamp tubes.
