My Latest GAS - Dean White Gold V

Its funny for years I've hated Dean's headstock on a V, but now It just seems really cool. I kinda wish it had a neck bucker, but I also like the simplicity of it with just a single PU. Has anyone tried on of these? The only Dean dealer near me is my local Guitar Center, but I haven't seen any Dean Vs there.

I think if you play a '79 series you'll get an idea of what the white gold sounds like, plays, and the quality since they're made in the same factory.

Great guitar, but beware of gold plating on import guitars- that gold will wear out fast.

Guitar Center won't have that model. Better off looking up drumcityguitarland

Thanks. I think there was a 79 ML at GC when I went. Would the neck profile be the same and how would they compare tone wise?

Re: My Latest GAS - Dean White Gold V

Same pickup essentially. Feel is a basic c shape neck, lightwieght, and they sound decent. Course, I would put a double white with gold screws Duncan Distortion or Custom Custom in it if I were to buy one.

Mmmmm..... If Dimebag Darrel had ever had a bath, and shave and a haircut, that's what his guitar would have looked like :D

I think you just described the guy Darrell Abbott from the Britney Spears band.

Please forgive me Dime!

I dont usually like V's but, that white, single bucker V is hawt!

Re: My Latest GAS - Dean White Gold V

That friggin™ rules. I'd put a chugga chugga pickup in that one...

That is kinda funny, but getting a haircut/shave and having a bath is just lame and not metal.

WTF? Is there a guy called Darrell Abbott in the Britney Spears band? That's twisted...

Re: My Latest GAS - Dean White Gold V

I have a white '79 V and it sometimes pisses me off how nice it plays. There are times I'd rather pick it up and play it and let my HSS Strat just sit there, even though the V cost about a third what the Strat did. Just doesn't seem right to me.

Re: My Latest GAS - Dean White Gold V

The headstock is almost as big as the body.

Re: My Latest GAS - Dean White Gold V

Yeah, you can mount a fretboard and a pickup between the nut and the tuners and play octave guitar up there :)

Same guitar. Neck profile would be the same, and the pickups probably.

I'd immediately change the pickup wo a Duncan though- maybe what someone else said- double white with gold polepieces

I was thinking a custom or a custom 5 might sound cool.

Re: My Latest GAS - Dean White Gold V

Obviously I wouldn't argue the choice of swapping the pickup out with a Duncan (at least not here on Seymour's doorstep) but the stock pickups in the 79 series are actually pretty good. I've heard more than one story of someone swapping the pickups out only to learn the stock ones actually were better.

Thats good know. I might go to my local GC this weekend end try out a 79.
