My Mystery Strat: UPDATE!

About two weeks ago I posted something about a Strat body I bought off of Ebay. My local shop told me it wasn't a Fender, probably some cheap knock off.
You guys in the forum came through and proved to be the REAL experts! It was in fact a Legit Strat (MIM early 90's).
Since then I made it whole. I got an MIM Special Edition neck and a Custom Shop Abby '69 pick guard/pickups set up. These pickups are the ones signed and dated by Abigail Ybarra, and they sound amazing! Anyway, I just wanted to thank the Forums for your help and put up a pic of the end result!
I DO HAVE ONE MORE QUESTION: It has the original tremolo on it. Someone told me (I actually trust this guy!) to put a Callaham tremolo set up on it. It's steel rather than the Zinc that Fender uses. Is it worth it?

Re: My Mystery Strat: UPDATE!

Whether a Callaham is worth it is a matter of opinion. It's about the closest thing available to a pre-CBS style Fender vibrato, but they're pretty expensive. It will change the tone of your guitar, and probably for the better IMO.

Re: My Mystery Strat: UPDATE!

That really looks clean. That's a good job of resurecting a fine instrument.

Re: My Mystery Strat: UPDATE!

Callaham, supervee, or similar would be a fine investment. Improved functionality and sustain.

Re: My Mystery Strat: UPDATE!

I would recommend a change, but as mentioned it will most likely affect the tone...for the better ;)

Re: My Mystery Strat: UPDATE!

I think they do have either a "big block" or "brass block" for the MIM bridge...

The reason I've changed stuff to Callaham is their claim of the precise fulcrum function of their units. I have no doubt their stuff is high quality cold rolled steel , but so is a lot of other stuff-or close enough- Japanese steel like Gotoh is quality steel. I bought Callaham lock, stock, and barrel for many/ most of my guitars on the claims that their units have the best fulcrum mechanics, but really am not sure if its a real claim.
